Policies
All of the nursery policies are written in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage documentation from the Government. Each room has a folder that parents can access at any time. If you would like copies of specific policies, please speak to the Admin officer.
We have included a couple of policies on the website which are the ones most parents request.
Behaviour
Our staff operate a positive behaviour policy with the children being rewarded and praised for behaving appropriately. Occasionally, there may be times when a child's behaviour is not acceptable and it may be necessary for them to have a short time away from the activity or group to calm down. Your child's key worker will inform you if problems arise and they will work with you to resolve any difficulties. We use a formal 'Behaviour Incident Report' form, which details incidents of a more serious nature such as biting and aggressive behaviour. If you have any questions or would like more information on our behaviour management techniques we use, please make an appointment with the Nursery Manager.
Welfare
We respectfully wish to remind parents about the Children's Act and that it is the responsibility of parents to let the Manager know of any facts relating to Court Orders placed upon their child. Staff will not hand over a child to someone other than a known parent or guardian without prior knowledge, and may ask for proof of identity such as a passport or agreed password . It is your responsibility to adequately inform staff, otherwise they will not handover your child.
Children need to be happy and confident to enjoy the experiences offered at our nursery and relate easily to adults and their peers. Please let us know of any changes or special circumstances which may affect your child's well being.
Health and Safety
Fire drills are held three times per year and all aspects of health and safety are monitored regularly. The nursery meets all Health and Safety and fire regulations to ensure your childs safety at all times. The Nursery is inspected regularly by the Environmental Health Department and adheres to the strict requirements and regulations set.
Equal Opportunities
The staff recognise that all children have an entitlement to a full range of educational and social opportunities irrespective of differences in race, culture, gender, religion, ability or language. All children will be provided with access to resources, information and equipment to participate fully in the rich and varied curriculum that we offer. The children will all be taught how to respect other cultures and beliefs and helped to develop positive attitudes to differences of gender, race, culture, disability and language.
