Additional Information
Clothing
We ask that all children bring a bag of spare clothing into nursery every day, in case of accidents!! The clothing should be clearly named so that we can return lost property to its rightful owner.
Children in the Jelly Fish room will need to bring indoor and outdoor footwear.
All children must have suitable outdoor clothing for winter and summer activities and we ask that parents provide a sun hat and a high factor sun block to use during the summer months.
Accidents
Each room have accident sheets. If your child has an accident while at nursery, details will be recorded and shared with you when you collect your child. You will be asked to sign the accident sheet and a copy will be given to you. If your child has an accident at home, please inform their key worker on arrival at nursery. You will be asked to complete an 'accident at home form' to confirm the injury occurred at home and we will monitor your child carefully and inform you if we note any concerns.
Our 'Child Protection Policy and Procedures' are available in the main office.
Medicine
If your child is prescribed antibiotics and a doctor has advised that they are well enough to attend nursery, staff will administer the drugs on your behalf, subject to you signing the medical consent forms. All medicines must be clearly labelled and handed to a member of staff.
Holidays and Absences
If your child will not be attending nursery because they are unwell or on holiday please let staff know.
If your child will be late but requires a meal, please let us know so that we can cater for them.
Community Links
At Starfish Day Nursery, we are very keen to become part of the local community so that your child is offered a variety of experiences. Not only will visits be made to places outside the nursery such as play parks and libraries but also to local schools to see drama productions and alike. We also encourage volunteers from the community to help in the nursery with activities and share their experience. We also invite people in to help with topic work such as 'people who help us'.
Complaints Procedure
If at any time you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the manager at the earliest opportunity. You can do this in a number of ways; either in person, by telephone or letter. If necessary a parental complaint report will be completed detailing the nature of the complaint, action taken by parent/carer, the manager and any follow up action. Time will always be made available to discuss any concerns. A copy of our grievance procedure can be found on the parent's notice board.
We welcome any suggestions for improvement to our procedures and practices.
